How much a private driver costs in Germany (2026)

Taxi tariffs for comparison

Munich, from 1 July 2026: €5.90 base fare, €2.70 per km for the first 7 km, then €2.50 per km, waiting €39 an hour (taxi-rechner.de). A long trip by meter quickly becomes expensive, which is where a fixed-price car can make sense.

When the car is worth it

Groups of 3–7, luggage and ski bags, cross-border trips to Salzburg, castles and small towns without direct trains, and days with many stops. For one or two travellers trains and the Deutschlandticket or Bayern-Ticket are cheaper.
